Where Mabel Began: A Mother's Love Story

The Calm Companion Co. was born from the most important journey of my life – being a mother to my beautiful autistic daughter.

Like many parents of neurodivergent children, I spent years searching for tools that could help my daughter navigate her big feelings and sensory needs. I watched her struggle with transitions, meltdowns, and overwhelming emotions – and I felt helpless. The products available were either clinical and cold, or they treated sensory support as something to "fix" rather than something to embrace.

One evening, after a particularly difficult day, my daughter was curled up with her favorite blanket and her beloved guinea pig stuffed animal. In that moment, I saw her finally calm, finally regulated, finally at peace. That's when Mabel was born.

Mabel isn't just a character – she's a companion. A gentle guinea pig who understands what it feels like to need extra support, who never judges, and who's always there when the world feels too big.

I designed Mabel products with one goal: to give children like my daughter the all-day regulation support they deserve, wrapped in warmth, comfort, and understanding.

Our Mission

At The Calm Companion Co., we believe that:

• All feelings are valid. Big emotions aren't something to suppress – they're something to understand and regulate with gentle support.
• Sensory needs are real needs. Every child deserves tools that help them feel safe, calm, and regulated throughout their day.
• Neurodivergent children are not broken. They're beautifully unique, and they deserve products designed WITH them, not AT them.
• Regulation is a 24-hour need. Support shouldn't stop at bedtime – it should be there for homework struggles, car ride meltdowns, therapy sessions, and every moment in between.
